Art Club allows students with a shared interest in art to gather and create. Through the fortnightly sessions, students explore various artforms, materials and techniques in a friendly and creative space. The various art projects offered provide platforms for students to enhance their creativity and self-expression, where they feel open to experiment and create without the limitations of objectives and boundaries.
Be Extended.
The opportunity for students to participate in co-curricular clubs is limited only by their imagination. Co-curricular clubs are adopted based on cohort interest and demand, and partnerships with industry and organisations such as the Association of Co-Educational Schools and the Debaters' Association of Victoria ensures access to the very best mentoring and resources.
Art Club
Chess
Chess Club formally runs once a week; however, members are encouraged to play at any lunchtime they like. They can also practice at home using Apps. During remote learning, the Chess Club is run online.
Students at any year level can participate in Chess Club and no prior experience is necessary, making the club accessible for beginners all the way through to advanced players. The advanced students get a real buzz of guiding new players by teaching them how to play, coaching them through training them in different moves and techniques.
Each year a selection of 10 student from Chess Club participate in Chess Tournaments against other schools run by Northern Star Chess. Students absolutely love these days and some have qualified for finals events as well, from 2022, the Chess Tournament occurs in May as part of our partnerships with the Association of Co-Educational Schools (ACS).
Code Green
Environmental concerns are at the forefront of youths’ minds. With the endless questions and at times uncertainty for what the future will hold, St ¹û¶³APP Code Green Club offers a space where likeminded individuals with an interest and passion for wanting change can come together. Code Green focuses on educating and promoting sustainable practices both within the community and at home. Together we aim together to widen our understanding of how we can help the earth and offer opportunities to partake in conversations beyond the classroom. We actively encourage the students to have these conversations with their peers and families in order to spread awareness and challenge thoughts
Debating and Public Speaking
Students compete in Debating and Public Speaking competitions through the Debaters' Association of Victoria (DAV) and the Association of Co-Educational Schools.
Journalism Club
Journalism Club is a platform for networking, development and collaboration of ideas and creativity for all our students who are interested in the craft of creating content in a journalistic style. Students have the scope to initiate ideas and leadership and to work effectively as a team to produce multiple written and illustrated pieces that feature in the College publication, best known as Bloom!
Lunchtime Languages
Each language runs a lunchtime club offering students of all year levels to build an appreciation of the respective culture through films, songs and activities. Students are supported to explore the language through a range of media and to become confident in expressing themselves. Language students are also supported in participating in a range of competitions such as the Alliance Française Berthe Mouchette Competition, Dante Alighieri Poetry Recitation Competition and the Japanese Speech Contest Victoria. The excellent results students have achieved in various language competitions are certainly a testament to their commitment and passion for languages.
